This panel discussion features individuals from the open source communities, developer and user groups across Asia. These figures span different decades and have witnessed various phases of the tech movement, including the rise of open source, in their respective countries. Some have been pioneers since the early days, while others have emerged as key players through recent college engagements and grassroots initiatives.
Hong Phuc Dang is the founder of FOSSASIA, advocating for the adoption and development of open source across Asia. She oversees the annual FOSSASIA Summit & Open Tech Summits in the region. With over a decade of expertise in open source development, she served as a board member for prominent international bodies such as the Open Source Business Alliance Germany, IEEE and Open Source Initiative. In recent years, she has focused on bringing open source hardware into production at scale.
Mario Behling is a technologist and open source innovator with a passion for fostering collaboration and connecting communities through decentralized technologies. In 2009, he co-founded FOSSASIA alongside Hong Phuc Dang, with the mission of improving lives through open technologies, shared knowledge, and community-driven resources. Under his leadership, FOSSASIA has spearheaded over 200 open source projects and built a thriving community of more than 7,000 developers on GitHub.
