We are a team from Metagov and DAOstar, advancing the global DAO movement through standards like ERC-4824 and exploring diverse DAO narratives worldwide. We've commissioned multiple reports on the “State of DAOs” in Asia, covering Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Greater China, and SEA. Our panel will discuss these findings, focusing on DAO narratives, regulations, opportunities, and differences between Eastern and Western DAOs, aiming to bridge the gap in the global DAO discourse.
Joseph Low authored the State of DAOs in Singapore report and is a DAOstar research fellow with 3+ years of web3 engineering experience. Born in Singapore, he combines technical expertise with deep understanding of the web3 landscape. Joseph is working on his master's thesis on community commodification, blending his academic background in entrepreneurship and social ontology with practical web3 experience. His work bridges theory and practice in the DAO ecosystem.
Dev is a researcher & public speaker, workshop designer/facilitator, and community builder at the intersections of digital tech, law and policy, geopolitics, and asian philosophy.
His podcast Light Forest traces the roots to global crises through Asian philosophical lens. As a founder of digi-cnx he is building a network of Web3 and digital technology focussed change makers in Chiang Mai.
Hazel Devjani leads operations at DAOstar, connecting with Asia-Pacific communities. She contributes to the Metagovernance Project's d20-governance game and researches self-governing communities in physical and digital spaces. Hazel has collaborated with Princeton on Wikipedia governance and led a DAO Compensation report. With a background in Political Theory from Duke University, she brings valuable insights to the intersection of governance, technology, and community building.
Gen authored the State of DAOs in Korea report and is Uniswap Labs' Community Partner for Korea. She co-authored the "DAOeast Movement" paper, exploring Eastern philosophies and cultures in crypto. Gen has contributed to diverse ecosystems like BanklessDAO, Kernel, and MetaCartel. With deep roots in Korean culture and web3, she brings insights into building localized, human-centric DAO models that align with Eastern values, fostering inclusivity in the decentralized movement.
Yvonne co-authored the State of DAOs in Taiwan report, bringing deep insights from the Taiwanese Web3 community. She researched a Web3 decentralization project commissioned by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, focusing on digital verification and autonomous organizations. Her work spans civil-tech, digital identity, digital art, and DAO ecosystems. Currently studying International Business at National Taiwan University, Yvonne bridges academic knowledge with practical DAO experience.
