This workshop will explore how Ethereum and EVM-based environments are becoming the critical intersection between traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi). It will focus on Ethereum’s maturity for real-world use cases, the role of EVM in regulated environments, and how institutions, governments, and central banks can foster innovation by leveraging permissionless blockchains while maintaining compliance with regulations.
Suzana Moreno leads blockchain strategy and a set of humanitarian projects at the WFP/UN Innovation Accelerator. She co-founded the Blockchain Lab at the Brazilian Development Bank in 2017, where she developed decentralized solutions to increase trust and transparency of the bank. She is also pursuing a PhD at the University of Geneva, focusing on innovative solutions for KYC/AML and decentralized apps/DeFi.
Hart Montgomery is the CTO of Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust and serves as the ED of the Post-Quantum Cryptography Alliance. Hart previously worked in blockchain and cryptography research at Fujitsu where he helped lead Fujitsu’s efforts in Hyperledger. Prior to Fujitsu, Hart received a Ph.D. in cryptography at Stanford. Hart has numerous academic publications and patents in cryptography and blockchain and brings a wealth of experience in these areas to the LF.
Italo Borssatto is a technology adviser at the BIS Innovation Hub HKC, specializing in blockchain and decentralized identity. With 25+ years in tech, he co-founded Brazil’s first mobile trading platform, MobileBroker, and launched the CRM Velis. As CTO of a credit card firm, he led key tech initiatives, then joined ConsenSys to further blockchain and identity solutions. A Computer Science graduate, Italo is dedicated to advancing decentralized technologies to transform traditional systems.
Luca leads Ecosystem Development at OpenZeppelin, focusing on expanding OpenZeppelin Contracts for Solidity and new execution environments. His first full-time job, while at university, was building products on Ethereum. Passionate about the Ethereum community, Luca was part of the organizing team for the first Devconnect in Amsterdam. He now organizes Latin America’s largest Ethereum hackathons as a Co-Founder of ETHSamba and founded Bamba, a physical hub for crypto projects in Rio de Janeiro.
Bruno Batavia is the Director of Emerging Technologies at Valor Capital Group, a venture capital firm based in New York focused on Latam and US-Brazil cross-border opportunities.
He also brings more than 13 years of experience working with innovation at Brazil’s Central Bank (BCB), where he led studies and initiatives with a particular focus on emerging technologies. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Head for the Digital Real (Drex) Project, Brazil’s CBDC initiative.
Abhinav is currently based in Singapore and leads Client solutions and Presales for Partior. In this capacity, he oversees clients' journeys including commercial and central banks, from defining use cases to product integration
Before taking on this role, Abhinav gained extensive experience working with both global and local banks. He spearheaded transformative initiatives in Payments and Core Banking, requiring him to coordinate efforts across business units, technology and regulatory bodies
